Robert Parkinson founded a Chemists and Drysalters in 1848. The business was passed down the generations to sons and grandsons, who built the company up and diversified its range of goods.

The firm owned the mill pictured here, which was located on the corner of Curzon Street and Bankhouse Street. The site has since been demolished.

One of the company's old sales manuals is available at Burnley Library.
