This furniture makers in Chipping was closed in April 2010 after going into administration. In February 2010, the BBC web site commented, "One of Lancashire's best-known furniture-making firms has gone into administration after more than 160 years of trading.......The company specialises in using native, mainly locally grown timber for its chairs and has won awards for its environmentally friendly approach.Previously workers have said the survival of the historic company was more important than their pay packets. " The plaque at the site tells us that the mill was..... "An ancient water-powered corn mill converted to and Arkwright style water-powered cotton mill in 1785. Cotton spinning ended in 1866. From the late 19th Century the mill was developed for joinery and chair making by H J Berry Ltd"
