General notes
Burnley Barracks' Train Station opened as a temporary terminus to the East Lancashire Line in 1848. It closed when Colne railway station was completed 1849. However, just two years later it opened again as the Barrack's station, serving the growing local community. Due to cuts in services and a large re-development of the local area that saw a significant decrease in usage, the station was scaled down and the buildings in the photograph were demolished. Services still use the station, but it has become a stop by request only.
