John Bingham altar server, assistant scout leader. He was also a verger at the time of the 1927 fire. He rushed into the church when he realised it was on fire, to take the cross off the altar which is now in the choir vestry. He married Nellie Jaggar and they lived at 14 Reynolds Street (Nellie's house), Burnley. He had previously lived on George Street.
