"On 26th November 1665 John Osbaldeston of Chiswick, London bequeathed £500 "to the poor of the Township of Leyland" which he required to be invested in land for that purpose.
Over subsequent centuries the terms of that bequest were faithfully followed, and by the end of the 18th century the trust had built several almshouses in the Fox Lane area. More were built in the mid 20th century." Osbaldeston Trust.
