General notes
Lowther Gardens is the oldest park in Lytham St Annes. The land was provided by Talbot Clifton in 1872 in honour of his wife, Eleanor (of the Lowther family in Cumbria) and in memory of her father. Prior to its development as gardens, the area was previously poor grazing land known as Hungry Moor. Lowther Pavilion, venue for various art forms, was built in 1921.
