The view on the postcard is of Church Road, Lytham,. with tram in background. The top of the Market Hall can just be seen to the left. In 1896, gas trams were introduced from South Station, Blackpool to St. Annes and later Lytham by Blackpool, St. Annes and Lytham Tramway Company. In 1903, Lytham trams were converted to electric power.
The postcard is addressed to Mrs.Howard, Cock and Bottle, Otley Road, Bradford. Written from Wyresdale, Beach Street, Lytham, the message reads: "Dear Auntie, We came hear on Friday Father had been very poorly but is improving now. Hope your sciatica is better. Love from all, Louie".
The postcard bears the original stamp and postmark.
