General notes

The St.Annes War Memorial Hospital was opened in
May 1922 by Lord Derby. The hospital was a gift from Lord Ashton to honour local war dead. The photograph (believed to be of the War Memorial Hospital committee) was taken at the Fete Day held in 1926 to raise funds for the hospital, being funded by public subscription until 1948. The hospital was closed in 1991, demolished in 1996 to make way for houses and flats.

The St.Annes-on-the-Sea Express dated 10/09/1926 (p.10) lists all members of the committee. This is available on microfilm at St.Anne's library.
