This photo shows the former station after work commenced on the new Railway Road. It was taken in July 1967 by the late John Clarke. It appeared in the book"Railways of Southwest Lancashire" by John Clarke and J. Allen Patmore. The original prints were provided for copying by Professor J. A. Patmore, B.Litt;M.A. Department of Geography, Hull University.
This section of the Ormskirk-Rainford line was formerly part of the old Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway.
