The LIDL supermarket was in the process of construction in May 2011 when this photograph was taken. It was being built on the site of former Holt Jackson Book Company.

Established in 1932 Holt Jackson was a library book supplier based on Preston Road in Lytham. The company moved to Preston in 2009 and in November 2010 merged with Askews in Preston, the new company being called Askews and Holts Library Services Ltd and the business being run from the former Askews site on North Road in Preston.
