Eddie Paynter (second from right) from Oswaldtwistle, who gained fame for his part in the England "Bodyline" cricket tour of Australia, began his career at Enfield before moving on to play for Lancashire and England.
The man in the centre (playing billiards) is Conrad Hunte (later Sir Conrad Cleophas Hunte, KA), the Barbadian cricketer who also played for Enfield for six seasons from 1957.
