"The 'Laura Janet' being launched on 15 June 1885, to take part in opening ceremonies of the pier. Posing for the photographer at East Bank Slade, the Laura Janet was the St Anne's lifeboat from which all thirteen crew were drowned when attempting the rescue of the Mexico."
The same photograph appears on p.232 of "St Anne's on the Sea: a history" (2008) by Peter Shakeshaft along with the above description.
