The image is a photographic print of a postcard. At the suggestion of Thomas Clifton, the Market building (eventually known as the Market Hall) was completed and opened in 1848. Over the intervening years, there have been upgradings, improvements and requests for its demolition. However, the building has survived and remains as a distinctive and attractive hub for the town of Lytham.
