Formerly the Midland Bank. In 1999 Midland Bank changed its name to HSBC Bank. HSBC Holdings PLC gained full ownership of the Midland in 1992..

"On 4th March 1908, the St Annes Express reported, 'The imposing new premises of the London City and Midland Bank in the Square, St Annes were opened on Monday.'

The bank was designed by T B Whinney, who designed many of the Midland's premises, mostly in the South of England. The St Annes building has a very ornate frontage in the classical style and is in marked contrast to the flanking neo-Gothic structures....."
