General notes
George Lyon was hanged in April 1815 for a robbery at Westwood House, Ince, Wigan. He had gained a reputation as a highwayman, and styled himself the King of Robbers. By the time of his funeral, many hundreds of people had gathered to see him interred. The inscription is for his daughter Nanny who predeceased him. The flowers were there in 2010, 195 years after his death.
