General notes

The laying of The Foundation Stone of St.Annes-on-the-Sea took place on 31st March, 1875. The Stone was laid in the foundations of the St.Annes Hotel which stood opposite the railway station. The postcard is addressed to Miss Grafton, Bilton Court,, Harrogate, York. The message reads: (written from the Grand Hotel). "Arrived safely, had a rush in Manchester as train late. I forgot to tell Gladys to send eggs to Olivia's as usual, ???????????if they can take them. We are going to tea to-day with Mrs.Parkin's ????????, we met her on the pier this morning.????" (Difficult script to read!) The front of the postcard reads: "where we stayed last time we were here."
