General notes
Church Hall probably dated from the Tudor period, although there may have been a house on the site since the Middle Ages. It was originally the home of the de Church family, although it later passed to the Rishtons. It was demolished in the 1940s.

User feedback: 'this site was situated about 100yrds infront from the petrol station at church hall its history is confused with the ancient other church manor house ponthalgh which is ancient owned by the rishton family. The site of ponthalgh was nearer to the dunkenhalgh which the rishtons also owned from 1200 aprox. ponthalgh now in ruins.'
