The Lifeboat Monument is situated on St.Anne's Promenade, near the Bandstand. The monument gives details of the Mexico disaster of 1886. 14 lives were lost in the disaster, when the "Laura Janet" lifeboat sank. The postcard is addressed to Master Robert Archer, Claughton, near Garstang. The message reads: "Hope you are all well, as we are, Dan will write for Bob to come & spend a week with him at Easter, The weather is so severe at present. H.F"
