The Lifeboat Monument is situated on St.Anne's Promenade, near the Bandstand. The monument gives details of the Mexico disaster of 1886. 14 lives were lost in the disaster, when the "Laura Janet" lifeboat sank. The postcard is addressed to a Miss McMann, Matlock Bath, Derbyshire. The message reads: "My dear S. I am sending Geo a h.e.book hope he will like it I am enjoying myself a treat Give my love to all Write soon & let me know how you are. Fond love, H."
