Formerly known as St.George's Gardens, these were renamed as Ashton Gardens in honour of Lord Ashton who bought the land and donated it to the "inhabitants of St.Annes-on-Sea" in 1914. Postcard is addressed to Mrs.Ackroyd, "Ellerslie", Eccles, Lancashire. Message reads: "Here for a change & rest but it is so cold-there seems no prospect of me being allowed out today so thought I would write a few lines to Manchester to cheer myself up. It seems slow work getting well again. Love Phoebe."
