General notes
"Waif-like Eckard starts a quick tor of the city's places of interest led by Miss Jackson, secretary of the Town Clerk. The bluff on which Lancaster Castle is built decided the site of the city 2,000 years ago. it commands a ford over the river Lune. (Lancaster: Luna Castra). Covering the narrow plain between the Pennine hills and the sea and the ingress route of the wild Scottish tribes, this was the last garrison to be withdrawn from the north during the Roman evacuation of Britain, in 410 AD."
From a single request originating from station WTAG, Worcester, Massachusetts., has grown a long series of town to town broadcasts in the North Amercian service of the BBC. The most recent programme was made in Lancaster, England for Lancaster, Massachusetts by Stephen Eckhard, Amercian-born producer of the BBC. The progamme was broad cast in non-advertising time.
