Taken from Clock Tower at top of Leeds Road. In foreground on the right is W. Wilcock, Wine Merchant.
The buildings past this have been cleared ready for work to start on the Arndale Development. Past this is Holme Street and the Palace Theatre and Picture house, built in 1905.
In 1977 the stone frontage was demolished to widen Leeds Road The remaining buildings were already converted into a bingo hall.
C.V. Barker & Sons Bookmakers had a shop in the large arch on Holme Street.
In the distance on the left St Philip's Church can be seen.
Behind the theatre is Victory V Factory.
Above the Victory V Factory is another large building, this is the Temperance Model Hostel on the junction of Barkerhouse road and Netherfield Road.
