Description

This is Sir Richard Owen, perhaps the most famous "son of Lancaster". The collection of portrait photography at Lancaster Library contains over five hundred pictures of people living in or associated with Lancaster. These are mainly of the "great and the good" but also picture some local characters of the Victorian and Edwardian Lancaster. We are currently digitizing these pictures and will add to this collection in the coming months.
