Hill Street, off Friargate, looking east. Peter Newby, schoolmaster, poet, dramatist, publisher and philanthropist, died here on 16th December, 1827. He was interred in the old Catholic burial ground in St. Wilfrid's Street. Marshalls house furnishers premises on right and Richard Swarbrick, building contractors at end of street. Note cobbled street.
