General notes
Park Head is on the road to Whalley, and is almost opposite the Moreton Hall Lodge. The rear portion only is ancient, and shews[sic] several mullioned windows. The front half has been restored. It was the old home of the Kenyons. Roger Kenyon lived here in the reign of Charles the 1st. His daughter Dorothy is notable as being the wife of Major General Worsley, the first member of Parliament for Manchester; and who was a personal friend of Oliver Cromwell. At his death, Cromwell ordered a State funeral in honour of his trusted General, and he was interred at Westminster Abbey, One of the decendents of the Kenyons at Park Head became Baron Kenyon in 1788. Accrington Observer and Times, March 19, 1918.
