General notes
Higher Antley Hall following its reconstruction and renovation by the owner James Foden in 1927. The Hall originally belonged to a branch of the Rishton family of Lower Antley Hall. According to Richard Ainsworth in 'The Old Homesteads of Accrington and District' (1928), it was enlarged in 1603. In 1735, the Higher Antley estate was bought as an endowment for St James's parish church. By 1929, the house had been converted into two dwellings
