The Keirby Hotel was built at a cost of £250,000 and opened in 1960 as a 4 star hotel, being part of the town centre redevelopment. The Odeon Cinema opened 28th August 1937 in a style typical for Odeon Cinemas, designed by Harry Weedon Partnership, it seated 1404 in the stalls and 732 in the circle. It was demolished in 1974 and retail stores built on the site. The film advertised "In like Flint" was released in 1967.
