"The platform of St Anne's first railway station comprised 'four barrels and two planks' and 'the stationmaster's office, booking office and the whole box of tricks, was contained in a green hut, six ft. by four'. By December 1876 the railway company had completed the station pictured which, with extensions, served the town inadequately until 1925"
The image appears as image no 46 in "Lytham St Annes: a pictorial history" (1995) by Robert Haley with the above description.
The Railway Company mentioned was the Preston and Wyre Railway.
