The modernised and extended premises at the opening in July 1914.
The business of McRaith's, costumiers, milliners & General Drapers, was established at 32 New Street, Lancaster in 1824. The premises were extensively modernised & extended in the Spring of 1914 by Mr Andrew McRaith, the son of the founder and the business was finally closed down in 1947 on the retirement of Mr Andrew McRaith's children, Gertrude, Hilda & Jack. The premises were demolished in 1968 to make way for a new branch of Barclay's Bank & were later turned into a branch of Messrs Kenneth Gardner Ltd.
