Sandwashing in Crawford
Crawford, near Up Holland
Marsh, Highton
The Silver Sand Company operated from a site near to the entrance to Crawford Manor. The Marsh family worked washing sand and placing it into boxes that were loaded on to a cart. The water came from the reservoirs in the field across the road. The carter was Mr. Highton who delivered sand to the railway siding at Ditton Brook adjacent to the line accessed by the track on the north side of Crawford.
