General notes
The hall was opened to show the restoration work that had been carried out. Worden Hall (formally Shaw Hall) was the ffarington family home and dated from around 1672. In 1837 the estate passed to James Nowell ffarington who commissioned a notable architect in society, Anthony Salvin, to rebuild sections and re-front the building in stone. From this time the new house was known as Worden Hall. Following a devastating fire in 1941 the hall was demolished leaving only one remaining wing, the outbuildings and the walled kitchen
