Worden Hall (formally Shaw Hall) was the ffarington family home and dated from around 1672. In 1837 the estate passed to James Nowell ffarington who commissioned a notable architect in society, Anthony Salvin, to rebuild sections and re-front the building in stone. From this time the new house was known as Worden Hall. Following a devastating fire in 1941 the hall was demolished leaving only one remaining wing, the outbuildings and the walled kitchen garden.
