General notes

Lancaster's 'old' market was a single floor Victorian structure. In October 1984, the market was destroyed in a huge fire.
The building was eventually replace with a modern structure on the original site ten years later. However, the new market never proved successful and closed in 2010, the City Council transferring ownership to a private company.
