Scholars and Schoolmaster at St. James School/ National School c. 1886.
The national School was opened in 1816 and was used as a day school and Sunday School until the Canon Street School was built in 1896. It was sited on the corner of Church Street and Holme Street -at one time Messrs. Bailey's drapers shop.
