Richard Bond died 27th July 1894.Three brothers hailed from Slaidburn, Richard, Thomas and John Bond. Richard early in life travelled with the pack; John commenced his business career with three pennyworth of marbles. Thomas was a weaver. All eventually launched in the drapery trade. Richard became an active worker at Christ Church and he and Thomas were among the first members of the local Volunteer Corps. He was a founder in conjunction with James Townson of the Blind Society a work in which he took a lively interest. The brothers Bond helped many causes. Richard was one of the Bonds of the Old Roundabout in Manchester Road.
