General notes
This hall was built in 1845 by Benjamin Hargreaves, a famous and well-respected member of the Hargreaves family, a benefactor to the town. Commemorated in the Benjamin Hargraves Memorial School. The Hall was later occupied by Mr. J E Riley, J P.; and then by Ald A S Bury, an ex mayor of Accrington. The dogs' graves referred to in another picture, are situated to the right of the entrance gates., in a secluded part of the wood, and can be observed from the main road leading to Plantation Mill. Demolished in 1948-49.
