As part of the Centenary celebrations a Town Fete was held on Saturday September 1st. In the background can be seen the entrance to the Arndale Centre (now Pendle Rise Shopping Centre). Since 1990 an extension to the centre to accommodate a new Wilkinson's store has meant that the entrance to Boots is now inside the building.
