General notes

The Baxter family moved to 'Brooklands' a house on Church Road Up Holland, just before WW1. Lily Baxter married William Bolton on 30th January 1924 at St Thomas' Church, Up Holland. Lily lost her brothers Clive and Arnold on the same day, 25th January 1915, when they were killed in action, Osmond was badly wounded and died later and Maurice, although gassed, recovered and rejoined the business. There was a Baxter's shop in Up Holland village until the 90's.
On close examination, this photograph appears to be part montage, with the images of one or more sons shown standing at the back having been taken from another photograph and inserted in to the scene.
