The Nazareth House on Ashton Road, Lancaster, was opened in 1902. It provided accommodation for orphan and destitute children and for the elderly poor. The children taken in were primarily girls although a few young boys were also accommodated.
The provision for children ended in the 1960s but the establishment continues to provide residential care for the elderly.
