George Sinclair was born in 1856 in Perthshire Scotland and joined the county constabulary in 1877 before being made detective at Accrington when the Borough Police Force was formed in 1882. He was later promoted to detective sergeant and upon the retirement of J Beattie in 1903 he was elected Chief Constable.
He celebrated 50 years of service on the 31st July 1928
