"Golden Ball" Public House. Viewed from St. Chad's Tower.
"Russell's" became "Street's of Cleveleys", Bakers and is now Sam Clegg, butchers. The area to the rear of The Golden Ball pub was the location of Poulton Auction Market and this photograph show animal pens at the rear. They can be seen on the left of the picture behind the pub. The building with the sloping roof to the right of the telegraph pole was the auction building which contained a circular ring surrounded by tiered wooden benches for spectators
This area was later cleared to make Booths' car park, now an Aldi Supermarket.
