View taken from School Lane across the playing field towards Whalley Street. The Tawd Vale public house fronts Berry Street.The Endowed was the church school attached to St. Paul's church Church Road, Skelmersdale. It ceased to be a church school and is now Crow Orchard School, named after a nearby farm. The school was remodelled in the fifties. It was rebuilt in 1911 for 268 children with a yearly income of about £90, founded and endowed in 1732 by Henry Ashurst and further endowed subsequently with land and money. John Pearce, master.
