The railway opened in Nelson (then Marsden) in 1849, as stop for the stagecoach to Barrowford.
The goods yard was busy sending cloth from the town's textile mills to Liverpool & Manchester.
The goods Yard was demolished in the 1960s due to competition from road haulage. Lomeshaye Bridge behind locomotive, steam crane to the right.
