General notes
Church rebuilt 1853-55. Lands in the vicinity first granted to the monks of Ripon in 705 AD. Rebuilt soon after the reformation, about 1581. Again rebuilt in 1770. In 1814 the tower was rebuilt and the chancel in 1817. With the exception of the lower part of the tower, the old building was completely removed in 1853, and rebuilt, work being finished in 1855.
