Photograph shows Burnley Borough Police Force in 1893 outside the Yorke Street entrance of the Police Station. Burnley Borough Police Force had been established in 1887, with the first Chief Constable being Mr J. Harrop of Shrewsbury. Three inspectors, six sergeants and 60 constables were also appointed at this time and their records can be found at the Lancashire Archive.
