Burnley Sanatorium opened in 1899 as the Burnley & District Infectious Diseases Hospital. It later became Marsden Hospital before being demolished in the 1990's to make way for a housing estate. During the period when the photograph was taken it comprised of three Scarlet Fever pavilions, an isolation ward and an administrative block.
