People waiting at Padiham Railway Station for a Blackpool or Southport excursion special. The large wooden building behind was the goods shed and the chimney belonged to the Gas Works.

The railway to Padiham opened in 1875. The passenger line closed in 1957 and the station was duly demolished. However, the line remained open in order to deliver coal to Padiham power station. The line closed for good when the power station was demolished in 1993.
