General notes
This image was probably taken after the storm of 24th October 1894 - presumably from an upper floor of one of the houses on South Promenade.
The www.amounderness.co.uk website tells us " A storm on 24 October 1894. caused a fishing boat, "The Wanderer" owned by Thomas Rimmer, to break loose from her moorings and crash against the cast iron pier supports. Some of the supporting columns were smashed and a section of the deck was brought down and washed away. The pierhead was completely severed from the rest of the pier and could only be accessed via the jetty."
This image is a copy taken from the collection of glass negatives in St Annes Library.
