General notes
The town residence of John Fenton Cawthorne of Wyreside Hall which stood on the corner of Fenton Street and Cawthorne Street, both named after John who was the MP for Lancaster three times between 1806 and 1831, when he died. The house was demolished in 1921 and is now the site of the Post office complex. The central gateway from the house was re-used being erected at the rear of the Storey Institute on Castle Hill and the rear entrance on a house on Heysham Road.
