General notes
It is unclear why sand was being unloded on the Jetty at this time, since the are ceased to function as a harbour once the replacement facilities at Heysham opened. T. W. Ward operated a shipbreaking business there for many years, but had vacated by the date of this image, so perhaps the sand is being in the process of landscaping the area.
